Many first-time visitors — especially from the UK — land expecting to open Uber. Good news: you can. The catch is what Uber actually is here, so this page explains it in one screen.
The short answer
Because it’s the same licensed taxis, the fare runs on the normal municipal meter — there’s no surge pricing. So an Uber trip costs essentially the same as flagging a taxi at the official rank; you’re just booking the identical ride through a different app. BiTaksi is the main local alternative app and works the same way.
Why it’s not in our comparison tables
On the destination pages you’ll see a single “Taxi (metered)” row rather than a separate Uber row. That’s deliberate: Uber, BiTaksi and the airport rank are the same metered taxi — only the booking method differs — so listing Uber as its own option would just double-count the taxi price.
