İzmir Airport Guide

Arriving at İzmir Airport (ADB)

The first 30 minutes, in order: get online, get cash, get a SIM, then find your ride. Everything a first-timer needs before leaving the terminal.

Quick arrival guide

Yes — İzmir Airport provides free Wi-Fi throughout the domestic and international terminals. Connect to “TAV-FREE-WIFI”, choose the free one-hour option, enter your country code and phone number, then enter the SMS verification code. If you can't receive an SMS, use your ID card to get a password from one of the terminal Wi-Fi kiosks.

ATMs (bankamatik) are in the Arrivals hall — decline the machine's own exchange rate (DCC) and withdraw some lira for taxis and coach tickets that may not take cards.

SIM & eSIM: physical Turkish SIMs are sold at operator desks in Arrivals, or install a Turkey eSIM before you fly and skip the queue entirely.

İZBAN, Havaş, buses and taxis are all signed from the Arrivals forecourt — see the İZBAN train guide, the Havaş shuttle guide and taxis in Turkey for the full walkthrough of each.

ATMs and cash

ATMs (bankamatik) are in the Arrivals hall. Choose “continue without conversion” / decline the machine's own exchange rate (DCC) — your own bank's rate is almost always better. Withdraw some lira for taxis and coach tickets that may not take cards.

SIM and eSIM options

Physical Turkish SIMs are sold at operator desks in Arrivals (bring your passport) but are pricier at the airport. The fastest option for most travelers is an eSIM you install before you land — you're online the moment you switch your phone off airplane mode.
