Find the Havaş coach bay outside Arrivals
Exit Arrivals and turn right. The Havaş coach bay is signed at the far end of the terminal forecourt, about a 2-minute walk. Published departures toward the peninsula are 06:30, 08:00, 10:00, 11:00, 12:00, 14:00, 16:00, 18:00, 20:00 and 22:30, plus one at 02:30.

Pay the driver and ask for "Alaçatı Terminal"
Board and pay by card or cash — ₺550 per person on the published Havaş fare. Tell the driver you want Alaçatı Terminal so they know your stop. Put large bags in the hold under the coach.

Get off at Alaçatı Terminal (about 1 hr 15 in)
The coach calls at Alaçatı Terminal, opposite the market place. This is in the town itself, not a roadside junction — but it is still a terminal, so you will not be dropped at your hotel door.

Walk, or take a short local taxi, to your hotel
Much of the stone town is walkable from the terminal. For anything further out, taxis wait at the terminal for arriving coaches — ask the driver to start the meter, or agree a price before you get in.
Public transport to Alaçatı
İZBAN train plus a peninsula minibus. The cheapest route on paper, but 3 legs and 3+ hours — only realistic in daylight with light bags.

Buy an İzmirim Kart and load at least 125 TL
Look for the blue İzmirim Kart machine at the airport İZBAN station. The physical card costs 200 TL and each traveler needs their own. The free Digital İzmirim Kart in the app is not valid on İZBAN, so you cannot skip this. İZBAN blocks 122.16 TL when you tap in at the airport, so load at least 125 TL before you travel.

Take İZBAN into the city
Head down to the İZBAN platform beneath Arrivals and take the train toward Alsancak or Basmane. This is the first of 3 legs, so keep your bags light: there are stairs at some stations and no direct connection onward from here.

Change at the city Otogar
İZBAN does not go straight to the Otogar, so tap out at your stop and take a Metro or Eshot connection to reach it. That connection is a new fare, because İZBAN journeys do not carry the 90-minute free transfer. Budget extra time for this change, especially with luggage.

Find the peninsula minibus (dolmuş) toward Alaçatı
Inside the Otogar, look for the minibus stands serving the Çeşme peninsula and ask for one heading toward Alaçatı. Budget roughly 90 TL per person, paid onboard — this is our estimate, not a published fare, so confirm at the stand. These minibuses have little luggage space, so this leg is much easier with a small bag than a large suitcase.

Ride to Alaçatı and get off in town
The minibus takes you across the peninsula into Alaçatı. Total journey time for all 3 legs is 3 hours or more. This route only runs well in daylight, so plan to travel in the morning or afternoon, not after dark.

There is no night tariff in İzmir — the same daytime rate applies around the clock, so a driver quoting a late-night premium is overcharging you. Solo travelers and couples usually do best on the direct Havaş coach — it goes to Alaçatı Terminal in town, takes luggage in the hold, and runs until 22:30 with an extra 02:30 departure. Because it is priced per person, a family of four should compare four coach fares against one fixed-price transfer. The İZBAN-plus-minibus route is cheaper on paper but takes three legs and most of a morning, and is only realistic in daylight with light bags.
Frequently asked
I land at 21:40 — will I still catch the coach?
Possibly, but a 21:40 landing does not guarantee it. The last peninsula coach leaves at 22:30 on the published Havaş timetable, which gives you 50 minutes to taxi to the stand, clear passport control, collect bags and walk to the coach bay. That is enough on a quiet night and not enough on a busy one, so treat it as a maybe rather than a plan. What matters is being ready to leave the terminal by about 22:15. If you miss it there is a further departure at 02:30, and a metered taxi or pre-booked transfer is available at any hour.
Is a taxi from the airport to Alaçatı safe?
Yes, from the official rank with the meter on. We estimate ₺2,800–₺3,600 on the meter plus the motorway toll, which the passenger pays. There is no night surcharge: the İzmir council decision that sets taxi rates states that the daytime tariff applies 24 hours.
